Life-long learning
Learning something new - how to teach in a new way, how to use 2.0 technology, changing your ways....it's exhausting, but fun.

Happy Fourth of July
Yard looks good. I have a fine crop of crabgrass where I want Bermuda and Bermuda where I want flower beds. Oh well. I wish I could grow a food garden, but lack time, knowledge, energy to develop and manage one. However, I did start taking vegetable scraps out to one location where, perhaps, next year, there will be some composted soil. Maybe I will begin the prep work for a garden during the winter instead of the day after school is out!

Another week
Tomorrow will be WEEK TWO of summer vacation. I worked in the yard. My feet hurt. My back hurts. In fact, I hurt all over......maybe from the tick bite.....surely, not because I'm lazy. I'm getting up RIGHT NOW and finishing the lawn mowing because this weekend is going to have a heat wave.

Summer's here
By tonight at 9:30 I will have finished my first week of summer vacation. Typical of what I usually do......spend days recuperating from my school year. Nothing really constructive to show for it. I planted tomato plants - probably too late to begin growing and producing. I mowed and became more aware of what bad shape the lawn is in. It needs tender loving care, water, weed killer, fertilizer. I am not sure it will get any of it. A goal for summer vacation. Get up at dawn and water and work for two hours outside of the house. That means I have to go to bed at night. Difficult for a night owl. Since I wrote this here, I will read it again in August and see how that went.

Favorite Things
My three redbud trees are blooming. Today I love Oklahoma. If I stare the the redbud trees I cannot see the "lawn" that has big areas of dirt. No bermuda growing yet. Sprigging is in my future. And a big water bill. I had a momentary dream of doing a garden. Hmmmmm. I could put the garden in all of the areas that have no bermuda yet! Front yard gardening! If only it could look like an English garden at the front of my house and then blend in some veggies. But I dream.

It's all about the baby
Once you have a baby, there is no more "you." Casey's and Megan's Christmas gifts were all for the baby: thing to freeze baby food in, bibs, etc. My favorite gift for Casey was a daddy diaper bag. It looks pretty much like a messenger bag with a few zip pouches. Inside though is a.........diaper changing pad! and plenty of room for bottles, diapers, wipes and all the essentials. I'm sure Megan will appreciate the fact that Casey won't have to take her pretty brown polka dot bag when he has to go out with the baby! Besides Casey has never looked good in brown polka dots. The present I liked the most was the Flip camera. It will be useful for them to document their baby's first months, but it will be wonderful for the rest of us in Oklahoma and Missouri to have a glimpse into the life of Baby Frank. Can't wait!
It's getting closer!
I'm still counting down the days until Baby Frank is born. I know that Megan is ready the way that the pregnant one can be oh so ready. We are anxious to see him and hug him and kiss him and smell his sweet baby breath. Megan is ready for that as well as sleep on her back and bend over and have a good running workout. Yea for Megan! for going through all of this for us!
